Hi, I'm Mary Rachel. Both names together, all the time, please and thanks.
I created this blog because I find writing to be therapeutic. I love that it gives me the ability to spill out my most honest thoughts on a page in a way that I often can't articulate in a face-to-face conversation. If one person connects with one sentence through my blog, I will consider my work worthwhile.
A Texas native, I now consider Oklahoma my home. I came to Norman to attend the University of Oklahoma in 2006, married my college sweetheart, Andrew, after my junior year, and ... the rest is history. Or so they say.
After several years of infertility, we adopted our sweet angel, Piper, as a newborn through a local agency in 2013. In November of 2014, I found out that I was pregnant with our youngest, Caroline. Both girls are miracles and have stories that I still can't believe I get to tell.
I spent 6 years in the public school system as an elementary special education teacher. I left the teaching profession, probably forever, in the summer of 2016. Currently, I am back in school as a dental hygiene student with hopes of completing my education in Spring 2020.
I am a lover of Jesus, coffee, mornings (in that order), distance running, reading, ice cream, laughing, family, country music, wide open spaces, OU football, This Is Us, and Paleo everything.
Thanks for stopping by!
